Curious about what Wisconsin Ice is offering for the 2024 Club Season? You can find the information on our
2024 Season - Informational PowerPoint
SO, YOU WANT TO JOIN THE WISCONSIN ICE FAMILY?
Follow these steps...
Step 1 - Determine Your Age Group
Before you do anything you will want to determine the correct age division. Please find the Month of Birth in the left column and then the year of birth in the same row. The column's heading matching the Year of Birth is the correct age bracket. If you have any doubts, then send an e-mail message to Jay Johnson at sjjohnson@charter.net for clarification.
Step 2 - Register with Badger Region Volleyball Association/USA Volleyball on SportsEngine
(Registering on SportsEngine is not registering for Wisconsin Ice VBC Tryouts)
You must first register with Badger Region/USA Volleyball on SportsEngine. This can be accessed through the Badger Region Volleyball website, badgervolleyball.org. Once on the Badger Region Volleyball website, you should click on the “MEMBERSHIP” tab on the right end of the tab selections at the top. This will bring up membership options, provide information about registration, and provide frequent questions with answers.
Tips For Choosing A Membership
If you had a membership last season, then that membership expired on August 31, 2023.
You will be required to have a credit card to pay this fee online and you will need to either print or save a digital copy of your Badger Region/USAV membership card after you have registered. CHIPS-18S, YOU WILL NEED THE Badger Region/USAV MEMBERSHIP NUMBER IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS ON THE WISCONSIN ICE WEBSITE. Shavings, you will not be required to have the membership number in order to register with Wisconsin Ice but you cannot participate until the membership is purchased.
If you have any questions or problems registering with Badger Region/USA Volleyball you can email membership@badgervolleyball.org
Remember, there are NO REFUNDS.
Step 3 - Register for Wisconsin Ice VBC 13s-18s Tryouts or the Chips and Shavings Programs
You will need to click on the blue REGISTER tab in the upper right-hand corner of the Wisconsin Ice website homepage (www.wisconsinicevbc.com). If you are new you will need to create a Parent Primary Account first. You can then add an additional parent/guardian if you'd like and then you will "Add A Player" to your account. If you already have an account you will be able to login, select the player you would like to register, and begin the process. Please make sure to complete all the information that is requested on every line; otherwise, your registration will not be able to be completed successfully. If most of your information is already filled in, please double-check it. Especially the height and grade.
13s-18s Wisconsin Ice Tryouts Registration
To register for Wisconsin Ice VBC Tryouts for 13s through 18s, you will be required to complete the online registration electronically through the Wisconsin Ice VBC website, wisconsinicevbc.com, through Oasys Sports and pay the Tryout fee of $40 with a credit card.
Your online registration and credit card payment must be completed by the end of the day on October 6, 2023, for the 13s & 14s age groups and by the end of the day on November 10, 2023, for the 15s through 18s age groups. Note that there will be a credit card usage fee that is charged which allows us to streamline our registration process.
All players must be preregistered for Tryouts this year. There will be no on-site registration.
Please read the Concussion Facts for Parents/Players before signing the Parent & Athlete Agreement portion of the online registration process.
Players should sign up and attend the Tryout for the age group that matches their age (see the USAV Age Definition chart above to ensure that you are signing up for the correct age group). If the player chooses to also try out at an older age group, then they must pay an additional $40 fee for the 2nd age group for which they would like to try out. If a player is given a formal invitation from a Club Director to attend an additional tryout at an older age group, then the player is not required to pay the additional $40 fee.
Please note that the fee that you pay for Tryouts is a separate fee charged for Wisconsin Ice VBC Tryouts only. Membership fees are a separate fee that is paid once you are assigned to a team.
Wisconsin Ice Chips All Call
Chips will follow the same steps as 13s-18s but their "All Call' fee is $20 and no players are cut from this program. Everyone will have a team.
Shavings Programs Registration
The players for the Shavings programs will just need to complete the online registration and will not need to pay a tryout fee. They will pay one flat fee during the registration of their program.
If you have any problems registering with Badger Region/USA Volleyball you can email membership@badgervolleyball.org
If you have any problems with registering for tryouts on the Wisconsin Ice website you can email breitnelson@wisconsinicevbc.com
If you have questions regarding the Wisconsin Ice Tryouts or the Chips and Shavings programs, then send an e-mail message to Jay Johnson at sjjohnson@charter.net for clarification.

We will have directors and administration available to answer questions and provide information about the upcoming season. The Open House Information Nights will run alongside some of our tune-ups. Tune-ups are geared to prepare your athletes for the upcoming tryouts so they know what to expect and become familiar with drills that will be done and what we are looking for during tryouts. Ice Chips "All Call" - 9 am - 10:30 am
13s Tryouts - 11 am - 2 pm

Sunday, November 12th, 2023 @ Wausau West HS 1200 W Wausau Ave, Wausau, WI 54401
15s Tryouts - 9 am - 12 pm
16s Tryouts - 12:15 - 3:15 pm
17/18s Tryouts - 3:30 - 6:30 pm
Please arrive 30-45 minutes for check-in before your scheduled tryout time.
Please note that Ice tryouts are sanctioned events. Only registered participants are allowed in the gymnasium.
Before entering the gym, you will be given a paper tryout number, your picture will be taken with you holding your number, and then you should have a family member or another player pin your number on your back with the 4 pins provided.
You will then enter the gym to complete your vertical jump and shuttle run stats. You will then exit the gym and wait to be called back in for your age group Tryout. Chips will not need to complete the jump and shuttle run stats.
When your age group is called, you will then enter the gym to participate in the organized warm-up, assessment at skills stations, and 3s & 6s play during which you will be evaluated.
At the conclusion of your Tryout, remove your number and place your number and pins on the pile by the door. Then try on and sign up for your uniform top sizes. If you arrive early, then you may try on uniform tops for size.
A Player’s placement on a team will be made based on their ability & attitude as displayed and evaluated at tryouts & according to positions needed.
Tips for Tryouts
Speak for yourself.
Follow directions.
Hustle at all times: from drill to drill, shagging balls, huddle-up.
Have fun – smile, be loud, encourage other participants.
It takes no athletic ability to hustle, work hard, and have a great attitude.
Remember... It is a tryout, not a clinic. It is your job to show the coaches what you can do. No matter what, keep working hard and keep having fun.
Step 6 - Accept an Offer!
Offering of spots on teams - An “offer” is a statement made by a Club Director or designee offering a position on the roster of one of their Club’s teams.
• An offer might occur at Tryouts with a blue offer/commitment card, or a phone call or an e-mail message after Tryouts. You can accept an offer at the end of your Tryout session by returning your signed blue card to a Director.
• Players are encouraged to let the Club know of your intentions as soon as the decision has been made – a player does NOT need to wait until the deadline to accept or decline an offer.
• After you verbally accept an offer in person, via email, phone or text the athlete will receive an email notifying them of the offer; and they will need to choose to accept the offer directly within the Sports Engine account.
The commitment deadline for all age groups will be 7 p.m. on the Monday after the applicable tryout period for all offers – October 9, for 13s & 14s and November 13, for 15s through 18s.
The Club may withdraw an offer that is not accepted by the Commitment Date
Once an athlete is given an offer, she is encouraged to make her decision as quickly as possible. This is a courtesy to other athletes who are waiting for offers & clubs that are attempting to solidify their rosters
